Once upon a time, in a country far far away (Tasmania actually), there was a man named Sin Nanna, at least that�s what he wanted it to be. This man thought it would be a cool idea to create the most obscure minimal black metal ever, so he did under the name of Striborg. He thought it would be even cooler to release a steady two albums a year, while reissuing his early work as well. So here is Solitude, his second full length outing this year.

 

As some of my loyal readers know, this is the fourth release of Striborg that I review within a year. The guy is definitely getting on my nerves by now. Therefore I will put my conclusion of this review right here: if you dig necro minimal black metal and/or you have his previous work, just buy it man. To be honest this is the least irritating release I have heard of him, because he actually tries to do some melody here and there, although it takes a trained ear to find it since the guitar still sounds like you can�t find the right frequency on your radio.

 

I have to mention something about this shit. The thought behind this music is to create minimal black metal with the intention of what black metal was about; being hated by everybody else and not joining in on any hypes or anything. Therefore I find making this music a kind of hype. It�s cool to sound like shit and to make people feel uncomfortable listening to your music. And all the �true� black metal idiots believe this shit. I ask thee, what is wrong with you fuckers?!

 

Musically (can I even call it that?) Striborg uses the same formula as on all of other three releases this year. Synth horror music versus one-man black metal action. No fun to listen to whatsoever. Lyrically it seems like depression is a kick as phenomenon in this world, although I can't understand a single word from the vocals. I personally would enjoy myself better by watching a dead cow than to play this record again, but that�s probably the intention anyway. Expect another fifty reviews of this guy on this site within the coming years. And stay necro. And grimm. Dimmu Borgir are commercial sell-outs yeah!
